Information for new patients

We hope that you will settle in well during your stay with us. Please read this information when you arrive.

Rehabilitation can be challenging, and you can retreat to your private room when required. You are also welcome to use our communal living-rooms in the main building or “Snikkarbua” if you want to socialize. We occasionally arrange cultural activities that we hope you will enjoy taking part in.

It is important to us that we ensure our patients are able to fully take advantage of their stay at the centre in the best possible way.

If you have any questions, please contact us and we will help you to the best of our ability.

The reception is staffed at night and there is always a nurse on night-shift.

Practical information

When you arrive the centre, the reception will greet you and you will be assigned a room. In the afternoon/evening there is a welcome meeting for all new patients.

Please check out before 09:30 at the departure day. Remember to bring all your personal belongings. We kindly ask you to remove the bed sheets before you leave.

  • Fire instructions are placed on your door. Familiarize yourself with these and locate the nearest exit.
  • Never ignore an alarm.
  • Only use stairs when evacuating, not the elevator.
  • In case of fire patients gather on the lawn in front of the centre (by the entrance of “Matsal 2”).
  • Open fire, such as candle lights, is not allowed in patient rooms and houses. Please do not charge electronic devices during the night.

There is a deductible for your stay at the centre. We kindly ask that you pay the deductible in the reception during your first weekend here. You can find more information about the deductible and the health system at helfo.no.

Children under 16 years of age are excempt from paying the deductible.

All patients receive a schedule from their coordinator/team.

All meals are served in “Matsal 1”, by the reception. You sit with others of your group, and all tables are marked with group colour.

Meals are served in a buffet. Due to allergies, we ask you not to mix serving utensils.

Special diets are served in a separate buffet. The food will be marked by first name and type of diet.

Monday to Friday

  • Breakfast 08.00-09.00
  • Lunch 16.30-17.30
  • Evening meal – self service

Saturday and Sunday

  • Breakfast/brunch 09.00-11.00
  • Dinner 15.15-16.30
  • Evening meal – self service

The nurses have open hour every day at the nurses offices from 17.30-18.00 hrs. You are welcome with any questions you may have about your rehabilitation process or other things.

The main door is closed from 23.00 – 07.00. The other entrances close earlier.

We kindly ask everyone to be quiet from 23.00-07.00. There is a door bell by the reception.

We kindly ask you not to photograph other patients, for privacy reasons. Filming lessons and activities is not allowed, unless this has been discussed with staff and consented to by those present.

If you leave the centre for a longer period of time, please let the coordinator or nurse know. If you leave for a shorter period of time, please register this on the bulletin board. This is for safety reasons.

There are four charging stations at the centre, all Type 2. More information at www.ladeinorge.no .

There are also charging stations in Dale, 13 km from the centre. More information at www.eviny.no.

Cell phones can disturb others during activities. Please turn on silent mode or turn it off.

You may receive guests, but we ask you to consider other patients. If the guest wishes to order food or spend the night this must be arranged with the reception beforehand. Charges and rules apply: Gjestar og ledsager

There is limited public transportation in the area. On Saturdays there is a public bus to and from Førde. Check entur.no.

Parking available at designated areas near activity building. Parking spaces by the main entrance is reserved for taxis and people with parking permit due to disability.

We would like to improve and appreciate your feedback. At the end of your stay we kindly ask you to feel out our user evaluation form.

There are patient alarms in each patient room. 

Please keep the room tidy when the cleaning staff is coming.

  • Tuesday and Friday patient rooms in the houses are cleaned and towels changed.
  • Monday and Thursday patient rooms in the main house are cleaned and towels changed.
  • If you would like new sheets you remove the old sheets and they will replaced when the cleaning staff clean your room.
  • If you have other needs please contact the nurse department.

We do not allow any types of drugs or alcohol. This includes alcohol-free beer.

Smoking is prohibited outside of the designated smoking area behind the mainhouse.

There are washing machines (free of charge) and tumble dryers (2 x 10 NOK coins) in the building. If you do not have coins, you can buy tokens at the reception. Those living in the main building may use the laundry room on the first floor there. The laundry facilities are unattended, and washing and drying clothes is at own risk. An iron is available in the laundry room.

You may store valuables at the reception free of charge. You are responsible for valuables kept in your room. Please lock the door when you leave the room.

UWC is our closest neighbour, with 200 students from 90 different countries. You may take walks at the UWC Campus area.

We are a healthcare institution and are required to conduct daily supervision of all our patients. To ensure this, we use various checklists during activities and educational sessions.

On weekdays, you will be followed up by the team you belong to. During weekends, a staff member from the nursing department will check you off when you go to dinner. If we are unable to register your attendance, we will contact you afterwards.

We do this to ensure that you are doing well while staying with us, and to make sure you receive prompt follow-up if the need arises.

Staff

Reception is staffed around the clock, except:

  • Friday and Saturday 07.30-14.45

We have a small supply of snacks and drinks for purchase from the reception.

All patients have their own coordinator during the stay.

Doctor’s appointments are scheduled when necessary.

There is always a nurse at the centre. If anything urgent happens, please contact the nurse department.

Facilities

You can access the pool when part of a scheduled activity. Please do not enter the pool before the staff have arrived. There are saunas and wardrobes connected in the pool area.

You may borrow books and games from the reception.

There are assigned times on the schedule for working out in the fitness room. Please look at the bulletin board for more information.

It is possible to hike in the area. You can also borrow fishing equipment at the reception if you’d like. It’s possible to borrow canoes, boats and bicycles on the afternoons and weekends. Please talk to the coordinator about this.

At the second floor in the activity building, you will find the waiting area. If you have any appointment, this is the place to wait. The waiting area has a pool table and a ping pong table.

In Snikkarbua by the fjord, you can do acitivites by yourself, such as working with wool, leather and wood. There is also a room for painting.

In the mainhouse you can find a hobby room where you can do arts and crafts.

The first week all groups are given an introduction to the facilities. Other activities are announced on the notice board behind the reception.
